Man killed after stabbing woman in wheelchair, 2 shot dead identified by New Orleans coroner

A man killed by a security guard after stabbing a woman in a wheelchair and two victims shot to death in separate shootings were identified Tuesday afternoon by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office.

Gary Rowe, 43, was shot and killed by a security guard in the 7th Ward Sunday after allegedly attacking and stabbing a woman in a wheelchair, according to the New Orleans Police Department. Officers responded to the stabbing just before 4 p.m. in the 1100 block of Elysian Fields, where they found the woman with multiple stab wounds and Rowe unresponsive on a sidewalk. Rowe was declared dead at scene, and paramedics transported the woman to a hospital, NOPD said.

Brandon Hayward, 32, was shot dead in the St. Roch neighborhood early Saturday morning. Officers responded to a call at 12:46 a.m. in the 3100 block of St. Roch Avenue, where they found Hayward with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

London Scott, 64, was killed in a midday drive-by shooting in the Marigny on Sunday, July 28. The shooting also killed Khristopher Lewis, 31, and injured a boy. Officers responded to a call in the 1700 block of Joseph Guillaume Place, where they found Scott and 11-year-old boy with gunshot wounds. Both were sent to the hospital. Authorities said at the time that Scott was in critical condition.
